…And so He said, “You were kidnapped at birth and raised in the wilderness; raised by wolves—in sheep’s clothing, mind you. You ran around like a child of wrath, seeking your own, ravaging in order to stay alive. To eat, you killed your family. Your enemies they were, because they needed to survive just like you. But you were the greatest, and now they know. Still running, for years, you circled, the same land, and lorded over the fields. The rain ceased. You were hungry, but you had eaten every living thing around, and the nearest strayed far from you. You were thirsty but you drank the final drop. A fragrance unfamiliar, yet pleasing, wafts passed your snout. You follow. Wandering. Eventually you pass out. You wake next to a river, flowing from a gate. There is a man standing. He tells you your life story, and that you are welcome to drink from the water as long as you deny that you are king of the wilderness. He says he wants you to live as a person, but that you have to obey his guidance. He calls you his child, and opens the gate. As you enter, you realize you no longer crave survival. You are fulfilled, and yet you didn’t make any effort. As a matter of fact, you didn’t even drink from the river.”
