For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is justified by all her children."
I just read this and found it interesting the stark contrasts of the accusations. Men will live for themselves. Some will even say they are following God "but the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves,"(:30). The men of the church or synagogue, who did what is right, did not love and they could not forgive either man. Thus they condemned both.
Also, it seems strange that it doesn't say that all the children of wisdom are justified by her. I think this means that when we love in faith, it doesn't matter whether we eat or drink, love is wisdom. It does not condemn for the God of Love incarnate, came to give life.
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
